Job Description

We are hiring a General Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our coffee company and café in Ethiopia. The role includes staff management, quality control across all products (including roasting and coffee inventory), tracking financial performance, and improving systems for efficiency and cost control.


The General Manager will also handle client communication for local and export orders, drive client acquisition, oversee supplier and vendor relationships, and implement systems to improve efficiency and cut costs. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for running operations on the ground.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the café and coffee roasting business

• Oversee staff hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management

• Supervise roasting operations, coffee quality, and inventory control

• Handle client communication for export and local orders, including logistics coordination

• Identify and acquire new clients for both local sales and exports

• Ensure financial tracking, coordinate with accountant, and maintain compliance with tax and labor laws

• Manage sourcing, purchasing, and supplier relationships

• Monitor operational costs and implement systems to improve efficiency

• Coordinate with marketing team on promotions and social media

• Ensure excellent customer service and address issues as needed

• Prepare regular performance and financial reports for the owner

Requirements & Skills

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the hospitality or food and beverage industry, with at least 1 year in a managerial role

• Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills

• Strong understanding of sourcing, inventory, and cost control

• Familiarity with coffee roasting and quality assurance

• Experience managing exports and coordinating logistics is a strong asset

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Knowledge of Ethiopian tax and labor laws

• Fluent in Amharic and English

• Degree in business, hospitality, or a related field is a plus
